Faithless the Movie - Excellent Performances

Faithless the Movie has won six awards out of eight nominations. It was released in 2000. Excellent performances by the lead actors, brilliant direction by Liv Ullman and script by famous Ingmar Bergman are the key factors.

It is a Swedish movie with English sub titles. Story line is basic - adultery and extra marital affair. Marianne - a young woman - starts an extra marital affair with David, her husband Markus' best friend.

What started out of sheer excitement and negligence, becomes painful very soon. Relationships become sour when Markus knows about it. Bitterness culminates in the lives of all three. Her daughter is at a total loss about the course of her life and relations.

It all ends with divorce of Markus and Marianne. David succumbs to resultant pain. He is of unstable kind himself. Marianne gets the custody of her daughter at a very bitter cost.

Deeper emotional areas of mind have been explored by the director and brilliantly put up by the lead actors.
